Discussions and feedback sparked by a recent eWedNewz story regarding passion– or lack of– in business shows 48% of readers voting there is a lack of emotional strength and commitment towards running their business. But beyond passion there are basic requirements needed to drive success.
Sometimes all the passion on earth won’t help a business that provides products that no one needs or wants.
Supporting the eWedNewz poll that differs with the opinion of the 90% cited by a celebrity wedding planner quoted in the story is a newly-released study by PJ Media;
55 percent say they would not start a business today given what they know now and in the current environment.
55% of the 800 survey sample of business owners asked said they would not start their business in this economy. In the same sample 67% say there is too much uncertainty in the market today to expand, grow or hire new workers.
According to a Forbes story a similar survey found that 68% considered economic uncertainty to be the biggest challenge to the future growth and survival of their business.
An ongoing eWedNewz investigation in the wedding business finds engaged couples extending the time between announcing their wedding plans and the time they actually get married. Many cite the current economic challenges and the high cost of a formal wedding. A rising number of small businesses we’ve spoken with say they’re putting any unnecessary spending on hold until after the election in November.
