The Week of April 15th in Review

By Paul Pannone

The week of April 15th, 2013, will always be remembered for the tragedy and terrorist activities in Boston. Thoughts and prayers go out to victims and families of the terrorism.

Couples living in today’s society continue to move away from tradition and how weddings were once planned. An ongoing poll shows 62% are mindful of tradition (guided) while 24% say they’re paying for their event and will make their plans their own way. Combined, 86% of respondents so-far will plan their wedding to make them distinctive and unique.

The poll fortifies a new forecast by Sheryl Davies, owner of Bridal Talk. Davies, a wedding industry veteran, has managed to keep up– and ahead– of wedding planning and becoming a progressive thinker. Her show this Sunday hosted like-minded vendors who are keeping pace with consumer demand requiring the skill and knowledge to make their events elegant, memorable and affordable.

In other newZ Samantha Goldberg will be helping to promote destination weddings to Caribbean nations.

New Editor of Get Married Departs from the Usual Assholes of Taylor and old Format

By Paul Pannone

In a fresh start and what could really be a new approach for the re-launched Get Married website continued this week, as Heather Dempsey replied to an email thanking her for being open about the new endeavor.

The girl next door look of Heather Dempsey replaces the false smiles, underhanded treachery and maliciousness of her predecessors. The assholes at the Taylor Group get the credit for finding and implementing Heather and her style.

Invited to make a statement to eWedNewz readers, Heather had the following to say:

“….thank you for the inquiry. We are very excited about how well the new site has been received since it’s relaunch only a couple weeks ago.

We are in a world with inspiration at our fingertips with the internet, Pinterest, tumblr, stylecaster, etc…and GetMarried wants to help brides, planners and wedding geeks find the “good stuff. I have a passion for finding and sharing so that all things are accessible…especially when planning the most celebrated day of your life. The site inspires you to go and do the things you want for your big day – or any other occasion. GetMarried is a place where inspiration meets celebration and becomes you!

I want it to be a favorite place for readers to stop by and see what’s trending, fresh and from a different point of view for weddings and lifestyle. I am also looking to receive submissions for real wedding, engagements, products and inspiration – and so far, the interest has been better anticipated out of the gates,” according to Dempsey.

But wedding planners and disgruntled advertisers say they’re not soon taken in by a pretty face and charm so-far exuded by the revamp. Some following the story notice third-rate advertisers on the website and no big names on board so-far.

What do you say? Are you buying the “new” Get Married launch?

After a Moderate First Half Wedding Vendors Look to a Strong Fall

By Paul Pannone

A slow start for weddings in 2012 shows the ongoing shift towards fall months, as couples plan a wedding in less hot, humid temperatures. According to Wiki Answers June is still the most popular wedding month, with October second. But not if you ask other sources, including Soundvision.com, August is second on their list; then September, then October. Wiki, Soundvision and other sources agree that June is number one. But depending on whose data you subscribe to, the rest is up for conjecture.

Soundvision’s statistics on the most popular months for weddings;

January 4.7%
February 7.0%
March 6.1%
April 7.4%
May 9.8%
June 10.8%
July 9.7%
August 10.2%
September 9.6%
October 9.4%
November 7.4%
December 7.8%

Although there’s no definitive facts to show the trend, most wedding vendors agree fall weddings continue to increase.

Wedding data and statistics continues to be a mystery; how data is gathered and dissected depends on the company. In the past organizations that sell advertising give data, only if the information paints a positive picture and encourages advertisers to spend money in their publication. Finding the right mix of editorial and advertising remains difficult. Paying for data is all but extinct.

What do you think? What is your busiest month?
